These dwarf galaxies, caught in an ancient dance, are known as NGC 4490 and NGC 4485. The wispy bridge of gas between them has long intrigued astronomers – but only now, observed with the NASA/ESA/CSA James Webb Space Telescope, is it possible to trace the timeline of their interaction. Around 200 million years ago, they whirled close to each other before waltzing away. This left a trail of gas between them, and spurred a burst of new stars! 🌟 #WebbSeesFarther 📷 ESA - European Space Agency / J
